Customers can use UnifireX thermal coating as a transferable fiberous coating to create a 1 or 2 hour rating for steel or other metals and materials. UnifireX thermal coating is a better solution than fire-rated gypsum board. Not only is this fire insulation easier to manipulate or control, it is lighter, and is accessible where sheet rock might be difficult to set. Additionally, with its ability to outperform all others, UnifireX has made a name for itself as the superior SFRM (Spray-Applied Fire-Resistive Materials). With increased fire insulation and protection that’s great for commercial and residential use, our exclusive formula has resulted in it being the number one thermal coating for fire proofing in the country.
UnifireX thermal coating can be used on a variety of different surfaces including steel ceilings, walls, beams, and more. Not only that, the product can be applied to galvanized steel, iron, sheet rock, various woods, and most dry surfaces. Fire insulation products can’t get more versatile than this.
In some cases, if UnifireX is applied to a wood surface it may be required to treat the surface in question with one of our flame retardant products for wood such as Wood Shield W-1000 or Fire Kote 100.
Spread rate: Spread rate will depend on the measure of fire protection desired. Example: Thickness 3/16" inch= 30 min.,3/8" inch=1 hour, 1/2" inch = 2 hour resistance. Spread rate 32 sq. ft. of material per 31 lb. bag of Unifirex F-10™ dry mix= for 1 hour. Spread rate for 2 hours 23 sq. ft. per bag of UNIFIREX F-10™ dry mix. Remember this is surface area of the treatment. These are approximate spread rates as there can be loss with over spray and thickness variances.
